2. General Information on Data Processing

I take the protection of your data seriously. This website is intended to provide information about the open-source project FileGazer.

I process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website or if you actively transmit data to me (e.g., by email).

The legal bases result in particular from the GDPR (e.g., Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in operating the website securely and reliably).


3. Hosting / Self-Hosting

This website is operated by me (self-hosted). When you access the website, technically necessary data is processed to deliver content and to ensure security.


4. Server Log Files

When you visit this website, the web server automatically records so-called server log files. These may include, among other things:

  • IP address (possibly truncated / anonymized, depending on server configuration)
  • date and time of the request
  • requested page/file (URL/path)
  • HTTP status code
  • amount of data transferred
  • referrer URL
  • user agent (browser/OS)

Purposes: operation, troubleshooting, detection of misuse/attacks, stability and security.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
Retention period: 1 day, then deletion or anonymization, unless analysis of a security-relevant incident is required.


5. Content Delivery & Security via Cloudflare

I use services provided by Cloudflare (e.g., as a CDN / reverse proxy / protection against attacks) to deliver the website securely and with good performance.

For technical reasons, personal data (in particular IP address and technical access data) may be processed via Cloudflare servers.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation, protection against misuse, performant delivery).
Data processing agreement: Cloudflare provides a Data Processing Addendum (DPA).

6. Cookies / Local Storage

This website does not use tracking or marketing cookies.

If technically necessary mechanisms are used (e.g., for basic functionality), this is done only to the extent strictly required for operating the website.

Note: In Germany, additional requirements (TDDDG) apply to setting/reading cookies that are not strictly necessary.


7. Contact by Email

If you contact me by email, I process the data you provide (e.g., email address, name, message content) solely for the purpose of handling your request.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract / performance) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in communication).
Retention period: as long as necessary to process the request, then in accordance with statutory retention obligations or until the matter has been fully resolved.


8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights in particular:

  • access to your stored data
  • rectification of inaccurate data
  • erasure and/or restriction of processing
  • objection to processing (in particular where Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR applies)
  • data portability (where applicable)
  • right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy if the website, the services used, or legal requirements change.
